The jackhammer loses yesterday and the Nationals are officially on my shit list. They had their chances but multiple mistakes led to a loss for them. Some of you will get a push for the Royals/White Sox game and others of you will have to wait for it to play out tonight when they resume play. Bruins and Blues go over and with the scoring chances last night, this is going to be a great play all series if we are getting the over at 5. Let’s see what action we have for tonight to get the week going the right way after a losing Monday.
Phillies (Pivetta) (-125) – Nick Pivetta comes in with an ugly 8.35 earned run average on the season but the Phillies have won 3 of the 4 games that he has started. They have got him an average of 10 runs per game of run support in the 3 wins and they should give him run support tonight with they history against Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright. The Phillies lineup comes in with a .348 avg in a huge sample size of 132 at bats against Wainwright. Pivetta has been successful against this Cardinals lineup in the past holding them to a .194 avg in 62 at bats. Phils have won 3 of their last 5 and the Cards have lost 3 of their last 5. I like the Phils tonight and it’s a good price for this matchup.
Red Sox (Price) (-1.5) – The Sox won the first game of this series 12-5 yesterday and they handed the Indians their 4th loss in the last 5 games. The Sox are the heavy favorite again today so we will be taking the run line that is paying just under even money. David Price has been good against this Indians lineup in the past holding them to a .239 avg in 109 at bats. The Indians will have Zach Plesac pitching tonight and it will be his Major League debut. I can’t think of a tougher place to make your big league debut than at Fenway Park against a Red Sox lineup that is averaging more than 5 runs per game this season. Sox should run away with this one and cover the run line for us.
*Updated 4:41 EST – Martin Perez has been scratched. No Action on this bet if you already placed it and if you haven’t already put it in, don’t. *
Twins (Perez) (-135) – The Twins lost to the Brewers last night but the Twins have won 10 of their last 12 games. The Twins lineup also leads the league averaging 6.02 runs per game. Davies has been good this season and comes into this one with a 5-0 record. However, he is coming off of a rough start where he allowed 6 earned runs in 3 innings. This Twins lineup has a very small sample size against him with just 16 career at bats but they have hit him hard in that sample size and come in with a .500 avg. Martin Perez comes in 7-1 on the season and he has held this Brewers lineup to a .214 avg in 42 at bats. I’ll take the Twins to bounce back tonight with a favorable matchup.
