We simulated the first round of the NBA Playoffs yesterday, you can get caught up here if you missed it. Today, we move on to the second round and remember this simulation is assuming the NBA goes with the single game format due to the Corona Virus. It’s starting to get interesting!
Lakers – Rockets – Fueled by star power in the first round, these two come into the second round looking to advance to the Conference Finals. They have played twice this season and they have split those games with the Lakers winning the first one 124-115 and the Rockets taking the second one 121-111. Russell Westbrook was the leading scorer in both of those games with 35 and 41. I think this game would be close but LeBron has a long history of getting calls down the stretch in the playoffs so I’ll take the Lakers to move on with a little help from the refs down the stretch. Lakers win.
Clippers – Thunder – Clippers – Thunder – The Clippers have taken 2 out of 3 against the Thunder this season and one of those wins was without former Thunder All Star Paul George. Kawhi and PG13 lead
the way for the Clippers and they move past the Thunder easily who are just overmatched in this matchup. The Clippers move on to the Conference Finals in the matchup that we have been waiting for since all of the major moves went down last off-season. On to the battle for L.A.
Bucks – Celtics – I know I have a large Celtic fan following and everyone is hoping that I’d take the C’s in this matchup but I wouldn’t. Even at full strength, the Bucks are a more complete team and they have the best player on their team. These two split the season series but the Bucks built a 27 point lead before the Celtics made a late comeback to make the game look a lot closer than it really was. If the C’s are able to push the pace and hit their threes it’ll be a good game but in the end, they can’t stop Giannis and they know it. Giannis had 32 and 22 in the two games against the C’s this season. Bucks advance to the Conference Finals. To play this video, view this post from your live site.
Raptors – Pacers – At first glance of this matchup, I thought the Pacers had a shot. The Pacers won the first game of the season series 120-115 in overtime but the Raptors won the next three and the most recent game was an absolute blowout with a final score of 127-81. The Raptors may not be as scary as last year without Kawhi but they still have a roster of guys who can go off – Lowry, Ibaka, Siakam and others with experience from last year’s Championship run. I’ll take the Raptors to advance.
Next up – the Conference Finals simulation.
