MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL IS BACK. MLB 2020, baseball is back! The owners and players association have come to an agreement on a 60 game schedule and we will get a 2020 MLB season! I’ve been pretty silent on the issue because I honestly gave up hope that we would actually see an MLB season when the billionaires and millionaires were still negotiating over 10 games of pay or not. It’s definitely not a good look for either side that it took this long to come to an agreement but at least they will be playing a season this year.
Let me be clear, I WILL TAKE A 60 GAME SEASON OVER NO SEASON AND I CAN’T FUCKING WAIT FOR OPENING DAY! I may eat 10 hot dogs, I may drink 10 beers, anything could happen because I’ll be celebrating and watching the game that I love. Baseball is America’s game. Baseball is America’s past time. If you are one of those rodents who are pissing and moaning that this season will suck because it’s only 60 games, get the fuck off of my website immediately. July 23 or 24 will be the day, it will be a Thursday or Friday.
It may only be 60 games and then playoffs but there are so many things to watch for this season. Let’s take a look at some of the major headlines going into the shortened 2020 MLB season because MLB 2020 baseball is back!
League Wide DH
I LOVE THIS. Old timers and grumpy old Cubs fans will hate this but I am in love with the fact that the DH will be league wide. No more rally killer bunt the runner over situations in the NL. Swing away. More offense. LFG.
Mookie Betts Will Play a Game in a Dodgers Uniform
Betts was traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers in return for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs, and Connor Wong. Mookie wouldn’t tell the Red Sox a number to write the check for because he wants to test the market at the end of this season. It would have been interesting and comical if Mookie never played a game for the Dodgers before hitting the free agent market. Mookie will be a star for the loaded Dodgers lineup. He has 60 games plus the post season to get his numbers up to set the stage for his big contract cash in this off season.
Gerrit Cole is a New York Yankee
Gerrit Cole signed with the New York Yankees for $324 million this off season. He is the favorite to win the American League Cy Young award at (+275). His former teammate Justin Verlander is right behind him at (+600). The schedule has not been released yet but it sounds like the Yankees will be playing 10 games against each A.L. East team and 4 games against each N.L. East team. That sets up nicely for Cole who will face teams like the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Miami Marlins.
New York Yankees Hype
The Yankees have no excuses this year. They got their ace in Gerrit Cole for $324 million. They have also had extra time off for everyone to get healthy. With that lineup, there is no excuse for them NOT to come out of the American League. I think they will.
Soto is still just 21 years old. He has been phenomenal in his first two seasons for the Washington Nationals. He went on an absolute tear down the stretch last year leading them to their first World Series Championship. After performing at such a high level on the big stage, we have to expect things to get even better for this kid. He will be fun to watch.
Texas Rangers will have 20k fans a game
There’s more to come on this but it sounds like the fans in the stands will be based on the state regulations. The Texas Rangers have a brand new ballpark. Based on the rules in Texas, there could be up to 20,000 fans per game.
Who will win the World Series?
I’m going with the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have been close in recent years and I think this year is the year. A lineup that averaged 5.44 runs per game last season will add Mookie Betts to the top of their lineup. They also get to add a DH in every game this season. The Dodgers lineup looks deadly. The pitching does too. Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, and don’t forget they got David Price in the cap dump from the Boston Red Sox. I took the Dodgers on Feb 5th and I am doubling down on them.
