It wasn’t looking good early last night with our first two picks. However, the Braves made a great come back and we ended up finishing the night 3-1! That now makes us 9-3 over the last 3 days. Let’s take a look back at last night’s picks and review the results.

VIP Pick Review

Braves (Newcomb) (-136) – The Braves will face Rick Porcello who they beat 14-1 5 days ago. The Braves scored 7 runs in 2 innings against Porcello. They should have plenty of confidence at the plate tonight. Sean Newcomb will pitch for the Braves and he pitched 3.1 innings and only allowed 3 hits against the Mets on Sunday. He’s had long term success against them as well and has held them to a .236 avg in 72 at bats. The Mets have lost 2 in a row and the Braves have won 2 in a row going into this one. It probably won’t be as much of a massacre as last Sunday but the Braves should win this one.

Result – WIN – Braves 11 Mets 10. Well the whole let’s trust Sean Newcomb to put together a good start didn’t quite workout for us in this one. He gave up 6 runs and didn’t look very good. However, the Braves fought back and they scored 9 runs from the 5th inning on. They took the lead by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Comebacks like these require some luck but I’ll never complain about getting lucky 😉

Cubs (-1.5) – The Cubs will face Trevor Williams who they have hit hard in the past. They come in with a .310 avg against him in 126 career at bats. 5 of the 9 Cubs starters have hit atleast 1 homerun off of Williams. The last time the Cubs faced Williams they scored 7 runs in 2.1 innings against him and won that game 16-6. The time before that they scored 8 runs in 5.1 innings against him in a 8-3 win. Williams gave up 3 runs in 3.2 innings in a 9-1 loss in his last start. The Cubs will have Yu Darvish on the bump and he has always pitched well against the Pirates. He has held them to a .115 avg in 52 at bats and has only allowed 1 homerun to them. Darvish also has a 30% strikeout rate against this Bucs lineup.

Result – Win – Cubs 6 Pirates 3. This one was really not as close as it looks. The Cubs were in control in this one and got out to a 4-0 lead. The Pirates scored 1 in the 8th to make it 4-1 then the Cubs came back to get 2 of their own in the bottom of the 8th to make it 6-1. The Bucs got 2 more in the top of the 9th but that was all she wrote. Our boy Yu Darvish pitched 6 innings and only allowed 2 hits. Great win for us here.

Rockets / Mavericks Over (230) – Huge number here and I realize both games of the restart went way under last night. However, it’s hard to ignore the fire power and pace of play when these two teams go head to head. They have played twice so far this season and scored 260 and 249 total points in those games which is WAY over 230. The Rockets average 118.1 points per game and the Mavs average 116.4 this season. They both play an up tempo game and they can light up the scoreboard. That’s what I’m expecting in this prime time matchup tonight.

Result – WIN – Rockets 153 Mavericks 149. That’s really not a typo. The over under was 230 and the Rockets and Mavs combined to score 302 points. They blew the over out of the water by 72 fucking points! They were 3 points short of the over at the end of the 3rd quarter. This one should count as 2 wins. It’s really no surprise to see this with the fire power that these teams have and the high pace that they play. Great winner here and it’s good to have NBA back. 2-0 on NBA since the return.

When the over hits by 72 fucking points.
