Astros (Javier) (-150) – The Astros just beat the Angels 11-4 last night and the Angels have now lost 10 of their last 12. They will face Jose Suarez in Game 1 today and he comes in with a 33.75 ERA this season. That’s not a typo. He allowed 5 runs in 1.1 innings in his only start of the season. That was against the Giants. The Astros have been great against him in the past and come in with a .324 avg against him in a small sample size. The Astros beat Suarez 4 times last season. Cristian Javier will pitch for the Astros and he’s proven to be a solid young starter this season. He’s allowed 3 or less runs in 4 out of his 5 starts this season. I like the Astros in Game 1 of the double header today.
Result – Winner – Astros 6 Angels 3 – It was the second time in less than 24 hours that we were jumping on the Astros train. They were going up against Angels starter Jose Suarez who had a horrific first outing to the season and who they have had success against in the past. Sure enough, they scored 5 runs in the first inning against him. Things got interesting late but the Astros bullpen closed it out for us to get the 6-3 win.
White Sox (Giolito) (-1.5) – The White Sox will take on the 7-17 Pirates who come in on a 3 game winning streak but they are still one of the worst teams in baseball. Lucas Giolito will pitch for the White Sox and he’s pitched 6+ innings while allowing 2 runs or less in 4 out of his last 5 starts. The White Sox will face Steven Brault and likely a heavy dose of the Pirates bullpen. The White Sox have won 7 of their last 8 and they scored 7+ runs in 6 of those wins. I expect then to put together another big win tonight.
Winner – White Sox 4 Pirates 0 – Not only a winner but a fucking NO HITTER from Lucas Giolito. He absolutely dominated this Pirates lineup that is one of the worst in the league. The White Sox got him the run support he needed early and he cruised to this no hit victory. It’s pretty fun to watch a no hitter any time but even more when you have money on it!
Golden Knights (-1.5) – The Golden Knights took Game 1 in dominant fashion the other night with a 5-0 final score. The Canucks were confident coming in but Game 1 was a punch in the mouth. They have now lost 3 of their last 5 while Vegas has gone 8-1 since the restart. They are 19-3 in their last 22 games. Vegas will continue to put the pressure on, they will be the more physical team, and they are more disciplined. Look for Vegas to take a 2-0 series lead tonight and they should cover the -1.5.
Result – Loser – Canucks 5 Golden Knights 2 – This was a tough one for us. The Knights were coming off of a dominating 5-0 win in Game 1. We thought this one was going to be an easy winner for them and maybe they were feeling the same way. It seemed like they took Game 2 lightly and it backfired for them and us.
That improved us to 4-2 on the week! You can get more picks and analysis like this by JOINING our VIP team!
