UFC Fight Night Aleksei Oleinik vs Chris Daukaus preview. This will be the first Heavyweight fight on the Main Card on Saturday but certainly not the highlight. It will still be fun to watch the big boys get after it in this one. Let’s take a look at both of these guys and how they matchup.
Daukaus comes in at 10-3 and 11 of his 13 fights have been decided by knockout. He’s won 9 of those fights decided by knockout and lost 2 of them. 4 out of his last 5 fights have resulted in a first round knockout win for him. He’s currently ranked #25 Heavyweight in the world and a win in this fight would propel him in the rankings. He only has two UFC fights under his belt but he was impressive in both of those fights finishing his opponent in the first round in both of those fights. Take a look at this one:
Oleinik comes in 6’2 & 227. He’s been around the block a time or two at the age of 43 and has a career record of 59-14-1. Oleinik is currently ranked as the #10 Heavyweight in the world but he is nearing the end of his career. He’s lost 3 of his last 5 fights where he was knocked out in all 3. He is outstanding when he gets the fight to the ground and holds a 46-2 record in fights decided by submission. His recent fights suggest that age is catching up to him.
Daukaus vs Oleinik Betting Preview
The books have Daukaus listed as the -175 favorite in this fight. Some may think that’s a bit generous since he has about 5 total minutes of career fight time in UFC fights. However, the numbers don’t lie here and he has averaged 9.58 significant strikes per minute compared to Oleinik’s 2.43. If Daukaus can keep it upright I think he just has too much and too fast of a pace which will overwhelm Oleinik. However, the fact that Oleinik is 46-2 in fights decided by submission compared to Daukaus 0-1 is one thing to be wary of. I think you go with the 9.58 significant strikes per minute and the guy who is 12 years younger in this one. -175 is steep but you could use it as a parlay piece if you’re worried about the odds.
