We kick off our UFC Fight Night Blaydes vs. Lewis previews with this Middleweight fight Phillip Hawes vs Nassourdine Imavov preview. The original fight between these two was set to be held on Fight Island but it was cancelled.
Hawes comes in standing at 6’0 and weighing in at 185. He lands 4.14 significant strikes per minutes and averages 1.68 takedowns. He is riding a 5 fight win streak into this one. The most recent win was his first official UFC fight. He won via knock out against Jacob Malkoun in a fight that only lasted 18 seconds back on October 24, 2020. Hawes has a career record of 7-1 in fights decided by knockout and 2-1 in fights decided by submission in his MMA career. The guy has POWER:
Imavov stands 6’3 and weighs in at 185. Despite having a three inch height advantage, he actually gives up 2.5 inches on reach to Hawes. He has the advantage averaging significant strikes per minute 4.53. Similar to Hawes, this will only be Imavov’s second UFC fight although he holds an MMA record of 9-2. His first UFC fight ended with a victory by unanimous decision against Jordan Williams back in October. The Russion Sniper is 3-0 in fights decided by knockout and 4-1 in fights decided by submission. He can definitely snipe, here’s the highlights from his last fight:
Hawes vs Imavov Betting Preview
The sportsbooks have this one set to be a true toss up with Hawes getting the slight edge. Hawes is currently -120 and Imavov is currently -110 on the moneyline. Although Imavov has the advantage when it comes to significant strikes per minute, Hawes has the advantage when it comes to power. The round props have not been released yet since it’s only Tuesday but I think this might be an interesting one to take a look at the under depending on where the line is set. If it’s at 2.5 then you really just need one of these two to finish it. I think we could see both fighters come out swinging early. They should both be hyped for their second UFC Fight and they are both looking to prove themselves. Hawes hasn’t had a fight go more than 2 rounds in his career and only 3 of Imavov’s 11 fights have gone to the judges.
That wraps up our Hawes vs Imavov preview but be sure to check in for more throughout the week. Next up – Chris Daukaus vs Aleksei Oleinik. KofSports provides sports picks and predictions.
