We are one for one on our Monkey Knife Fight Homerun Derby challenges this season! Take a look back to our lineup from last Sunday when Rafael Devers went deep in the fifth inning. For those of you who want to join me, you can get an instant deposit match up to $50 HERE. You’re welcome.
You can play the challenge for a specific game or a certain slate of games. The way the challenge works is you pick three players and then select your home run total. There are three options for the home run totals with different payouts for each – 0.5 pays +150, 1.5 pays +300, and 2.5 pays +500. We went with the 0.5 home run total at +150 on Sunday and that was a solid payout so let’s go for that again. We need these three players to combine for 1 or more homeruns tonight.
Nelson Cruz – Cruz is my top pick for this slate tonight. He will be going up against Andrew Heaney who he has had good success against in the past. He’s hitting .294 with 3 career long balls of of Heaney. Anothr factor is that this game is being played in L.A. so it will be nice baseball weather compared to the cold weather that the Twins played in up in Minnesota earlier this week. Get into one for us Nelson!
Maikel Franco – It might seem like we are reaching deep into the cookie jar with this one but he has great numbers against Rangers starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz. He comes in 8-27 (.296) with 2 homeruns against him lifetime. Foltynewicz has also given up 3 homeruns in his first two starts of the season. Folty has 10 starts where he has allowed multiple homeruns dating back to 2019. I think Franco is a solid option for a roster spot for us tonight.
Shohei Ohtani – Ohtani has been living up to the hype this season. He’s hitting .340 and has 4 homeruns, he also leads the Angels in RBI’s this season. Ohtani will be up against Lewis Thorpe who I can honestly say I have never seen him pitch. However, I can see that he has allowed 4 homeruns in his last 5 outings. He will also benefit from the L.A. weather like Cruz will and seems like a good play for tonight.
Here are the homerun odds for those of you who don’t like monkeys or knife fights and prefer sports betting.
Nelson Cruz (+325)
Maikel Franco (+440)
Shohei Ohtani (+425)
